Productivity web apps seem to pop-up by the dozens everyday, they make it easier to share, collaborate or just be updated on team activities. But most of these come with low monthly fees, which is perfect for a business solution, but not if you want to have something for your own personal use. Basecamp is now offering all their wonderful features for just $25 (a one-time purchase) to use as a personal project manager.
Basecamp Personal offers: 1 Basecamp project with up to 5 extra collaborators and 1GB storage, at the affordable price of $25. After fully re-designing the Basecamp UX this past year, the web app is the most effective productivity manager on the market. This new personal version packs all the features, except for the calendar, timeline, ‘everyone page’, ‘everything page’, and ‘people pages’ options. The comparison chart overviews what you do and do not get with Basecamp Personal.
In a blog post by 37 Signals co-founder and CEO Jason Fried, it says that the new Basecamp offering is in response to one of the biggest complaints fueling users over the years. The need for a platform to manage personal projects, volunteer projects, school projects and more priced for individuals, not business users. Basecamp’s previous lowest tier offering was at $20/month, and they once offered a free option to create one project, but that has since been removed; the more economical solution of $25 as a one-time-fee is how they see a solution to the problem being rectified.
Currently Basecamp Personal is only being made available to current Basecamp customers to test, but will be open for everyone in the coming months.
