There’s just some ideas that make our jaws drop, NeverWet is the latest to be added to our list of incredible inventions. For windows there’s Rain-X, repelling water and keeping vision unobstructed, but everything else in our lives is still seemingly prone to getting wet. However, even Rain-X wears off after time as well, and needs a new application to keep it resilient. NeverWet is better, newer and stronger which was introduced about two years ago, but just hit the market for $20.
While Rain-X works great on windows, NeverWet claims to have developed a “super hydrophobic coating both consumer & industrial, that completely repels water and heavy oils. Any object coated with our NeverWet coating literally cannot be touched by liquid. “ High claim to say the least, and the demonstration video below shows its actually true.
You apply a bottom coat to any surface you want to have remain liquid free, wait 30 minutes, and then a top-coat is applied. 30-minutes after that you are ready to test all kinds of liquids on the surface. Once completely dry you can drop water and see water just bead away from every surface just like how Rain-X provides. NeverWet is waters kryptonite.
Despite the video demonstration above, NeverWet makes it clear that the product shouldn’t be used on clothing or electronics. Also the base coat is made with chemicals that can strip paint, so be sure to test any surface before applying a large quantity on it. Once NeverWet has been applied to a surface it will hold a frosted white coating, which can be unappealing to many people. Be sure to see the video below to view what the coating looks like, if you’re okay with it then NeverWet would be a product for you.
