With Swipe, anything can be a slide and you can present it live to anyone, anywhere, on any device. That’s the slogan behind London startup that uses simple markdown, like that found on Squarespace, Ghost, GitHub, and Stack Overflow, to turn any file into a live presentation.
The first cloud based tool that works on any browser in the competitive slide presentation field even further separates from others by being response, device-agnostic and real-time-sync to allow others to work together. With everyone on their device anyways, syncing a slide presentation to be viewed in real-time on anyone’s smart device also brings up the opportunity to grab audience analytics. Data such as poll conversions, sign-up forms or when audience members stop following.
The Next Web put it best when they said, “Swipe is a little like Slideshare, except with a big injection of kool aid.” Smashing Magazine called their Markdown slides as “fantastic and so useful,” and TechCrunch said, “The fun really starts when delivering your presentation.” Co-founder and CEO Horia goes on to tell us even more about why Swipe is great:
“We’ve made presenting and making presentations super simple. All in the browser, on any device, totally responsive. A massive simplification of processes that demand heavy software and bad hardware today (PowerPoint, clickers, projectors). Swipe is the future of presentations, what we’ll do next will set the standard for what a presentation can be: we think it can be interactive and it should become better when you use it with other people.”
Swipe allows for a diverse set of file types and media to be utilized in slide creation: Images, YouTube and Vimeo URL’s, PDF’s, and Keynote to name a few. However PowerPoint isn’t available, but is in the works. A key file type that should be added in so everyone can feel justified to stop using the incredibly boring but traditional slide creation platform.
Once you’ve taken all your media and injected it into the creation of a presentation a unique URL is created to share the content either privately or publicly. But it isn’t until the presentation is being delivered that the Hulk style powers of Swipe come into play.
Being able to concurrently share a presentation without a projector allows an entire audience to be even more engaged. As you swipe through slides those on the unique URL will be able to participate in real-time. No more having to squint or getting in early for a front row seat, Swipe empowers audience members to be involved and gives presenters tools to become better.
