We Are on a Boat! No this isn’t a reference to the hilarious work of Adam Sandberg; it’s a new app that connects who want to be on a boat with those that want to share their boats.
Most relevant in cities such as Venice, Bruges, and Amsterdam the “Uber of boat travel” lets locals and tourists navigate through city waterways if they don’t have their own boat. Usually a boat-free life means connecting with tourist travel companies or spending hefty dollars on a rental, We Are on a Boat provides the more entertaining and cost-effective way for locals and tourists to find an alternative to the usual.
The app lets those looking for boats to browse through other peer initiated “Captain Mode” settings. Those with boats place geotags on their water vehicle along with photos to allow anyone looking for a boat ride to place a request. Each boat supplier can set their own price tag, which can be monetary or desired goods.
The app has been launched in Amsterdam, with hopes that other cities with waterways will adopt the opportunity in the near future.
