Let’s meet Startup, Ethnic Eats:
Website: www.ethniceats.com
In a few sentences, tell us what your start-up is all about!:
Ethnic Eats is a mobile app that helps you explore and share interesting, but hard to find ethnic restaurants around your neighborhood
When was your startup founded? And what stage is your startup currently at?:
The startup is less than a year old and funded by the owner himself.
Let us know a bit about your team, who are the key team members and what is their role?:
The only member is Alex Hsu, who is currently the founder of Ethnic Eats.
Alex currently handles everything — development, marketing, and dev-ops
If applicable, what is your growth like? And what milestones has your startup achieved so far?:
Milestones:
Our app is at ver 0.8. User are now able to view a list of restaurants discovered everyday, click-through to view details and recommendations by other users. In addition, users are also able and encouraged to save and recommend restaurants along with the menu items.
Growth:
We’ve just started submitting invite to our beta test program as of now. So far, we’ve been able to acquire a dozen or so users that are primarily friends & family.
Why did you choose this particular idea and concept to build your start-up on?:
My mission in building this app is to help people form their own understanding & perspective of ethnicities around the world.
By chatting with friends & families, it appears the concept of helping people discover ethnic restaurants around them has resonated.
This was further validated through numerous personal conversations I had in person.
Do you have any customer feedback on your product and/or service that you could share?:
Current feedback has been qualitative through conversation with friends & family.
I would like to take this the next step by greater user acquisition effort, and to start gathering qualitative data through app usage and surveys.
Data will be gathered through:
User behavior such as new discoveries, save, recommendation, and in-store visits.
User will receive a survey 7 days after signing up to the program (https://survey.io/survey/5e946)
Are you looking for funding or are you open to partnership opportunities, and if so, what’s the best way for people to get in contact with you?:
I am currently actively looking for partners to help scale this idea.
The best way is to reach me by email: [email protected]
I will be seeking funding late summer, early fall depending on user growth.
