Responsive design has been all the rage in the HTML5 and CSS communities the last little while. If you’re unfamiliar with what that means: Responsive design is essentially the laying out of website content in formats that are independent of its platform. For instance if your on your iPhone the website would re-size and be optimized instantly for the device, but if you quickly looked at the same site on your favorite tablet, the site would have reformed and resized again in accordance to the tablet’s specifications in real-time.
All that technology is coding that’s pretty standard practice for a web designer and developer; but for non-coder’s applying similar methods to various applications in their own lives, it can be difficult. SlashCV is a platform that helps you recreate your resume and have it optimized for any device to share and give the viewer the most perfected reading experience.
Currently in private beta access, the resume creator uses a simple and minimalistic professional design that will be easy to manage and PDF downloadable. But when making an impression on a prospective job opportunity, every technological advantage definitely helps. The professional SlashCV will let you build and share a professional resume designed to work across all devices (web, mobile & tablet) that is simple to use and provides a slick resume to send out if you’re struggling to put one together yourself.
There are a few things we wish that the organization will include into their application as they move forward to allow for more control, design personality and overall flair: We hope users will be able to select from a large font-set similar to how About.me works, removal of co-branding and possibly implement interactive or application specific cover pages via HTML5 to show the effort being put forth specifically for the opportunity.
The resume building market has been around for what seems like forever and its interesting to see how new business ideas are transforming technology to work in that vertical. We hope more ideas come about and work to make resume’s more fun. But what do you think? How can a resume-builder be more effective for today’s social and technologically advanced job force? What can SlashCV incorporate into their application to be more interactive?
