With TechStars applications being put in by budding entrepreneurs and Y-Combinator accelerator opportunities coming around yearly, those running startups know how useful and important it is to be mentored from the best. Converse is doing something very similar for the music industry – offering bands free recording studio time in a professional studio with experienced sound engineers and producers.
Converse Rubber Tracks is a fully-outfitted studio, created by the well known sports apparel company, in the heart of Brooklyn, New York. Not only is Converse allowing bands the opportunity to utilize a professional recording studio, but like a co-working space, the use of the venue’s facilities is absolutely free.
To get your band the opportunity to use the recording studio, musicians are asked to apply via there website during one of the 12 recording cycles. Meaning if you apply in January, and if chosen, you’ll be able to record in March, and this goes on throughout the year. Demand and applications are in high volume because the opportunity is unique (like any startup accelerator program) and Converse encourages you to apply regularly, but after you do, get back to writing and developing songs – so you do get accepted the next time you apply.
Geoff Cottrill, Chief Marketing Officer says: “One of our goals as a brand is to give back and help inspire a new generation of musicians. By opening Converse Rubber Tracks, it’s a way for us to say thank you to musicians all over who have helped us become the brand we are and to provide a place for new artists to have access to resources they may not be able to afford. This is our way to invest in the future of music and we couldn’t be more excited about it.”
Making it in any industry is incredibly hard. Converse is giving emerging musicians an opportunity rarely seen, no matter the type of music performed, and a chance to utilize a team of experienced professionals to help make their music dreams come to life. Musicians also get the right to maintain control of their music or relinquish limited rights to Converse so they can publish your music on their website and other social media sites – otherwise it remains the sole property of you and your band.
If you’re an up and coming musician that can utilize free state-of-the-art recording time, apply to be apart of Converse Rubber Tracks.
