A lot of people say print is dead, but we really don’t think so. Although there have been a lot of print company closures in North America over the past few years and fewer printing presses are running, the industry itself still has a place in our digital world. It takes the focus of some dedicated entrepreneurs and new minds to help think of solutions to help the print industry grow and still be relevant in the new-age.
CityPrintFinder.com is a new startup from Toronto that is trying to punch some life back into the industry by simplifying the print buying process, making buying local and giving users a platform to get print quotes and save money in the easiest way possible. Launched in Canada and soon to be available in the US, the innovative print directory and mobile web app helps you find local print suppliers based on what you want to print and allows you to request a quote from multiple print providers.
It’s not everyday that someone needs to print something, but if you do need something printed or work in the creative industry – a common question arises: “Who can print this?” CityPrintFinder.com goes beyond just finding a print supplier and their contact information – the application helps users find multiple suppliers in their local area that can print what they need and ultimately reduce their overall printing costs by providing an opportunity to gather more prices for what’s needed. User’s are asked to search for what they need (business cards, flyers, brochures, etc…) and the platform provides results of who to contact right around the corner from you. You can also utilize their simplified request a quote tool to create bid requests on items to ultimately and hopefully drive down costs in the future – bringing the printers to you instead of scouring for them.
Founded by Ivica Sopkic, Raffi Boyajian and Jay Kapadia, three graduates from Ryerson University’s Graphic Communications Management program – The mission of CityPrintFinder.com is to make the print buying experience simpler so users can save on print costs, while providing print suppliers the proper information to give an accurate quote, and demystifying the jargon and problems the general public may step into when looking for someone to print what they need. Co-founder Jay says:
“Although many say print is dead, we believe that print will always be alive, it just needs to be more accessible to the everyday person. Today technology makes it easier for us to find people locally, but communicating with printers can sometimes be difficult due to industry jargon – which results in improper print quotes and ultimately higher prices. We believe that by simplifying the process printers will get more quotes, users will get accurate prices, and print will continue to grow.”
Fellow co-founder Raffi Boyajian tells us:
“As the production coordinator for a Marketing Agency, I rely on receiving multiple quote requests for print manufacturing services on a daily basis. Be it labels, packaging, direct mail marketing, business forms, or just regular sheet work, I needed to send out quote requests fast, and now, finally, I can.”
