We’ve covered quite a few Instagram inspired businesses over the past year, but there is a new one that is making waves on Kickstarter. Snapstagram takes your rad adventures, first dates, countless smiles, and beautifully captured Instagram photos, and turns them into the highest of quality 4×4 prints. By focusing on developing and delivering Instagram photos in the most enjoyable way possible, Snapstagram is able to produce “Square Photos for Un-Square People”.
Snapstagram is an Ohio-based startup founded by Steven Engel, Jared Gibbons, and Kelly Nowles. When we asked Steven why they chose Instagram as the platform of choice for printing images, he told us:
“To us, Instagram is the most direct and focused of social networks. Unlike its counterparts, Facebook posts can contain videos, photos, links, games, cheeseburger cats, and ads. Twitter, yet immensely more defined, still can get cluttered with status updates, pictures, links, and everything else that can take a user off of its page. Instagram however remains true to its form in providing such a cool and stable social network for anyone.”
What we find most appealing about the Snapstagram brand and business is its utilization of snail mail in our digital age. As we mentioned before, we think print is not dead and the opportunities for experiencing tangible products in our digital age brings about robust feelings within us. Because holding onto a high quality 4×4 picture can truly be something special. “Nothing compares to the whole process of ordering, the suspense of waiting, then actually receiving and holding your prints.” says Steven.
To use Snapstagram, you will simply login to Instagram via their platform; pick the photos you want printed. You order 12-shot rolls of photos to be printed at 4×4 which are then delivered to you with free shipping at a cost of $6 per roll. Don’t like your photos? You can also print the pics from any Instagram user that has a public account.
Currently Snapstagram is looking for funding on Kickstarter, and they have already surpassed their goal of $3,000 and with few days to go, you too will be able to hold your favorite Instagram photos as a 4×4 print very soon. Support Snapstagram on Kickstarter here.
