Gmail has been the email platform of choice for us, and many of you, for years now, but it hasn’t been until recently that the interface for the popular application has changed so drastically. It’s because of change that most people get frustrated or disappointed due to the need of having to re-love something they already loved. As a result new tools have popped up recently that help make Gmail more enhanced or better put: gives you back control of the interface design.
“Gmelius is a cross-browser extension that proposes a better and cleaner Gmail™ inbox.” Gmelius offers easy to turn on/off options, for example get rid of ads, header design features, widget accessibility, etc. while at the same time simplifying the interface for easier navigation and an enhanced Gmail experience. The extension is available for Firefox, Chrome and Opera, at a price of: Free!
A few of the features we find to be very useful are its ability to remove ads, customize icons (so you can have icons with text as opposed to just confusing icons by itself), and the auto scroll to the top by clicking the top-dark grey bar like in Google+. Those are simple little things, but they help the Gmail experience become user friendly, at least for the emails we get when searching for new startup ideas to share with you.
