“Social networking is commoditizing talent faster than ever” says LinkedIn Founder, Reid Hoffman – As a result our expectations on delivery times, response rates and information / research gathering are borderline crazy at times. In the workplace those similar expectations have translated into a need for an understanding of a prospective candidate’s connections and abilities more quickly then ever before. Dubbed by WorkFu’s creators as “the social platform at the heart of your working life”, the web app is providing a better, cooler, faster and with greater relevance network of business and talent profiles.
The stunning website goes beyond just listing skills, traits and work experience. It integrates with user’s social networks and personal bookshelf to give quick feedback and insights like never before. Designed for both job seekers and hiring managers, the site does an impressive job at laying out information and details in the simplest way possible. Co-founder Mike Kus tells us:
“We’ve worked hard to make WorkFu as easy to use as possible. Simplicity is at the heart of our thinking when it comes to the UX. We don’t want users to have to think. We’ve thought about the design and interaction very hard. We’ve introduced features to WorkFu and ripped them back out again because we didn’t feel they were easy enough to use. We feel that having a great user experience on WorkFu is hugely important and will play a vital part in WorkFu’s success.”
Upon signing up, via Twitter, you create a “Smart Profile” which gives users a lean, focused summary of their skill-set along with a beautiful online presence. After a professional profile is setup and keyword optimized, users will be able to see all the job opportunities available. At this point users will notice something quite different, instead of searching for a position profile are given a “FuScore”. A FuScore is made of two parts; relevance and connections. This score is used to order the opportunities, so that users instantly see opportunities that are relevant to them.
If a user sees a job opportunity they like, they can apply directly through the application and a message is sent to the talent hunter with their score and WorkFu profile link. The hiring managers can then overview the applicant’s network connections, profile information, key-worded talents and respond back with hopefully an interview opportunity.
WorkFu does a great job at seamlessly making the process of job seeking and talent discovery elegant. In the same process as viewing jobs, talent seekers can overview possible new candidates. WorkFu tells us:
“While you wait for applicants to apply, WorkFu will give you instant talent suggestions ordered by relevance and allow you to approach these users through our powerful messaging system.
We’ve built in the tools so as managing and communicating with applicants is intuitive and super easy. Our aim is to create a considerate and responsible culture within WorkFu that our users love.”
WorkFu is beautiful, simple, elegant and easy to use. Although there are not a ton of job postings, we are certain that as it grows WorkFu will be the new standard for job seeking design and usability. We could not have been more excited to share our appreciation for the simplicity and thoughtfulness that went into building this site, but what do you think? And, while you’re exploring WorkFu, check out our current internship opportunities here and here.
