When Hiram Farrand and The Brown Company in Berlin, New Hampshire first began mass producing the “rapid rule” in 1922 the design was uniquely simple yet very functional. Now we see tape measure’s with lasers, levels and digital components, all elements that make for a more advanced product, but do they advance the original Farrand design?
The above concept measuring tape makes simple additions to the original design to become not just a measuring tool but also a line tracer and compass. The Hole Measuring Tape, conceptualized by Sunghoon Jung for the 2012 iF Design Talents Awards is a simple in design but adds great functionality and is a product that we wish could be bought right now!
