We first fell in love with cardboard cutout mini-people back in 2010 through the incredible work of Anton Tang. With his ability to capture stunning and emotionally impactful humanistic moments through the world of a mini-cardboard-person, we were left saying “give me one of those.”
Now the concept of creating our own 4 inch taller cardboard mini-person has become a reality through the assistance of agency Mint Digital. Foldable.me allows you to create a customized cardboard version of yourself or friend through the web – giving it hair, skin color, facial features and what ever else makes you stand out. For $11.99, you then can receive a mini-you as a flat piece of laminated card stock that will have to be assembled and folded together without glue.
The 3D custom paper dolls first started out as Kickstarter project back in March, and received 919 backers, totaling in 1000% of funding. Now that it’s open to the public, we’ve ordered our own in just 15 minutes with free worldwide shipping so a troop of New Startup mini-people are about to invade desks everywhere. Watch how they’re built below.
