It never ceases to amaze us how some wonderful ingenious ideas make their way onto Quirky. A recent Quirky and General Electric collaboration has led to the discovery of a smartphone enabled product that keeps you up to date on your milks status.
Called the Milkmaid, the quart size milk jug is a glass container that plugs into a smart base that stays in your fridge. The product then keeps track of the quality and quantity of the milk inside by monitoring the weight and pH levels in the milk. When the milk appears to be running out or going bad, you’re sent a text notification to your smartphone.
The Milkmaid is able to sense if your milk is spoiled and notify you how many days until it will expire. While a temperature alert sensor on the jug itself warns you if the milk has been left out too long, in order to minimize the risk of developing bacteria. And all this information is made available to your iPhone.
The problem with these great ideas and those found on Yanko Design is that they are only concepts or prototypes, at the moment. But if you head over to the Milkmaid Quirky page, you can help make this product a reality.
