We’ve covered augmented reality applications quite a lot in the recent days, such as the Suwappu – an app that brings toy characters to life with 3D augmented reality environments, and today we wanted to share how Becks (a renowned beer brand) is turning everyday landmarks and locations into beautiful works of art.
With its new augmented reality app, Becks (via the Green Box Project) is looking for artists, musicians, designers and fashion creators to have their works spread across a city. Each artist’s works would only be accessible through a smartphone capturing a Green Box that is outfitted by Becks to signal their app to let a viewer experience amazing pieces of art. Check the video below to see the app in action.
The global initiative is already housing Green Boxes in Miami, LA, Rome, Milan and New York. But not all the artworks are represented by Green Boxes, as seen below. User’s that recently held up their devices to the statue of liberty were astonished to see a magical and beautiful artistic large red flame coming from the torch of Lady Liberty.
You can download the app at the Apple App Store and the Android Market. Also view more videos of the Green Boxes in action on their Vimeo Page.
