Agust Juste and Eva Calduch are graphic designers from Barcelona running Estudi Juste Calduch and have launched Behomm. An invite only site that lets designers and visual artists only swap homes for a long weekend, a week, or a month… for free. From small cottages to city lofts it’s the shared passion of photographers, architects, stylists, filmmakers, art directors and artists alike that a collection of well-designed homes can be shared worldwide on Behomm.
To join the community it will run you 35 euros for a 6-month trial and 95 euros for a year. With the membership you get access to listing your home, searching the index of wonderfully designed homes throughout the world, unlimited exchanges, travel without additional hotel costs, and a guarantee of 6 free months if you can’t organize a home exchange during the first membership contract. Once you’ve been lucky enough to be join the exclusive artists home-swapping club, you search the stream of incredibly well photographed homes and contact those you want to swap with using their secure messaging system. Swap details, agree on dates, and then enjoy the trip; it’s that simple to enjoy luxury with your fellow creative’s.
But why is Behomm just for designers, the site tells us because “part of the success in home exchange is exchanging with somebody like you… with interests in common…. you match easily…” However, there is a little loophole, if for instance you are a lawyer but your partner is a visual artist, you still qualify to be a part of Behomm. It’s only necessary that one of the owners living at a home is a designer or visual artist. Instead of staying at a hotel, Behomm lets you get a taste of local life, enjoy cultural exchange, make personal connections, and get all the comforts of home while away.
A home exchange trip can be much more rewarding then a traditional fly and stay at a hotel. Artists share the same appreciation and passions for well-crafted workmanship, why not combine that with travelling and use Behomm from now on?
