Simply put: Instgram businesses that find ways to put photos from the popular app onto real-life items is a booming industry. Professional print studios have adopted the trend, such as Gramprints offering a wide selection of print applications, while startups with novelty ideas pop-up regularly,. Coastermatic’s Instagram Coasters goes into the list of all time favorites.
Although, there is no real reason to have coasters with your Instagram moments on them, we feel it just might be a little less lonely sitting in front of a TV as NFL season is about to embark with a beer resting snuggly on-top of a digitally imprinted coasters with a favorite photograph.
Coastermatic uses traditional sandstone coasters, and di-cuts them into round forms, so you’re photos are cropped at the corners to fit on the surface. The images are then printed with a dot-matrix printer, giving it that non-glossy commercial look, which suits us just fine as it seems much more appropriate for lo-fi images.
What’s even more impressive is the user interface process introduced by Coastermatic. They make it the easiest way we’ve seen to pick and choose / preview your images during the check-out process – a fantastic display of brand character and usability design by Brooklyn-based SVA MFA Interaction Design Students Tom Harman and Tash Wong.
You can order a set of four Coastermatic coasters with different images from your Instagram account for $25.
