Let’s meet Startup, Pitchronome:
Website: www.pitchronome.com
In a few sentences, tell us what your start-up is all about!:
We’re Music Loft Apps, creators of innovative educational music solutions for amateurs, students, teachers and performers.
For two years we’ve been developing a suite of six music education apps & toolkits to create an eco-system that will allow anyone to learn – and gain fluency in – music.
We have four provisional patents so far and an academic advisory board from world-renowned music colleges. Our apps use the same core technology and are iterative; each helps the next come to fruition.
Our user acquisition strategy is cyclical: since our apps target musicians of every level – student to professional – we will sponsor groundbreaking local and national workshops and performances. By keeping those professionals active and engaged within their communities. This not only increases user acquisition; it increases culture.
When was your startup founded? And what stage is your startup currently at?:
September 2013
Let us know a bit about your team, who are the key team members and what is their role?:
Pitchronome was developed by Music Loft Apps which was founded by Eric Moore & Joseph Hosford.
Eric began playing cello at age 10. He graduated with Highest Honors from the University of Michigan as a triple major: B.M. Cello Performance, B.M. Music History, B.M. Music Theory.
Eric is a performer, sheet music publisher, composer and music educator. Please see www.CelloLoft.com for his cellist/superhero info and www.CelloLoftMusic.com for his sheet music empire.
Joseph is a designer and developer with a background in music, UI design, film editing, and animaton. His app development experiences stretches from music instrument creation, eCommerce / Register systems, eLearning platforms and Bluetooth Low Energy devices.
If applicable, what is your growth like? And what milestones has your startup achieved so far?:
Pitchronome – A music tuner, metronome and drone. We started building Pitchronome with the intention of making a musical tool that will simplify the practice session, no extra screens, no extra apps all the while having to integrate a pitch generator, metronome and tuner into one project and one screen.
Why did you choose this particular idea and concept to build your start-up on?:
We think that the practice time for a musician should be as simple and streamlined as possible as such we don’t think good functionality should come at the expense of bad design. Allows unique functionality (simultaneous pitch generation and metronome beats) which is desirable for advanced musicians. Clever workaround for iPhone hardware limitations when detecting low pitches to give highly accurate low-note tuning capabilities.
