We always assume super hero’s have to be these beyond reality individuals with powers from another universe, but in reality super hero’s walk amongst us everyday as normal people that just provide actions that truly make a difference. The Real Life Super Hero Project is a new website that lets us, citizens, be inspired by and learn who these people are and what they do to make the impact that should get them noticed and appreciated much more then they currently do.
Founder, Peter Tangen, started the project initially as a gallery of these superstars in Super Heroic costumes: “to shine some light on this new breed of activism and altruism, through a photographic installation to benefit the established organizations the superheroes believe in.” The website further uses these photographs to give these super hero’s the comic book styling to further enhance their position, in our eyes, as a more then human power wielding hero’s (which they truly are).
The project however, is no longer just a photographic display of these characters, but something much bigger, a living, breathing community that inspires people to become the positive forces for change we all can be. To become more active, more involved, more committed, and perhaps, a little super in the process.” The site is truly a marvel (no pun intended) of photography, illustration, video and random acts of kindness that spotlights our everyday hero’s.
