There was a time when every animation on the web was developed in Flash. It was time consuming, sometimes required a third-hand, which extended budgets, and other times it created elegant interfaces. Back then little did we know Jquery and now HTML5 with CSS3 would take over, making simple animations more accessible and easier to produce.
HTML5 animations can make a site even more engaging, but the types of animations one might want to include can be either very easy and a couple of lines or tens of hundreds of keyframe precision taking the fun out of animation design for the web. Animatron is a free web app that provides users with a new workflow for creating animated and interactive HTML5 content for the modern web.
Traditional animation software can be expensive and confusing for non-pros; Animatron, with its streamlined UI and $0 price tag, is neither. Sharing work-in-progress is as easy as sending a link. Multiple users can work on the same project in real time! – Users can access Animatron (and their saved work) from any computer with Internet access. – Users can publish their work directly to the web with a single click, and the HTML5 content will play on any device!
The results are outstanding, and the features beyond uplifting. Animatron, which works best in Chrome, feels like a cross between Flash, Photoshop and Illustrator all in one. A timeline and layer pallet lets users control how the animation will look. While tool windows let those familiar with Adobe products be as creative as one can be. Published projects come with an iFrame to embed with and are best for mini animation movies or follow the JavaScript method to control features of each creation.
